The healing process following your cosmetic brow tattoo

The healing process for a cosmetic brow tattoo can be overwhelming if you don’t know what to expect. To help you feel at ease I am going to explain exactly what to expect your brows to look and feel like in the weeks post treatment. Remember healing takes time, trust the process!

Day 1- Your brows will be super fresh and warm in tone. The pigment colour may look darker than you expected for the next 2-3 days. The tattooed area will feel a little tender and you may experience some minor swelling/redness for the first 24 hrs. It is normal for the tattooed area to begin to weep with lymph (a normal wound healing response)

Days 2-4: Your brows will darken, keep calm this is NOT the final colour! Rest assured this dark pigment will settle after a few days and the healed outcome is up to 60% lighter than how your brows look during this process.

Days 3-5: Your brows start to peel and flake and they may feel itchy. This is a natural part of your skin’s healing process and you’ll want to avoid picking or itching. Some peeling may occur and your brows may look patchy at this stage.

Days 6-10: As the skin begins to heal and most of the peeling and flaking is complete your brow pigment will become lighter. You may also notice some inconsistencies through the brow. At this stage the skin acts like a filter and mutes the pigment colour, it can take 4-6 weeks for the skin to exfoliate and reveal the true healed tattoo colour.

Remember your cosmetic brow tattoo is a 2 step process that requires a touch up appointment at 6- 8 weeks. It is normal for the colour to have faded significantly and for the brows to be patchy.  Some minor adjustments to shape, colour, or consistency will be fixed at the touch-up appointment.
